Friction material

Minerals such as Micaceous Iron Oxide are frequently used in the formulation of friction materials. MIOTAG is primarily used as a mild abrasive in non-asbestos organic (NAO) or low-metallic formulations due to its moderate hardness and exceptional temperature stability. Its lamellar structure ensures a stable coefficient of friction, providing significant performance improvements over traditional granular iron oxide.

The main advantages include:

  • Enhanced heat dissipation.
  • Optimal shear strength and compressibility.
  • A stable and moderately high coefficient of friction.
  • Reduced wear.
  • Improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) characteristics.
  • Minimized cracking.
  • Decreased water absorption.
  • Excellent processability.
